Mar 9, 2009: School Auction was the past week-end. We had a GREAT time as the food, entertainment , and people were alot of fun. Plan to be there next year.

Sep 22: We had our first 3rd Sunday Mass on the 15th/16th of September. It was very well attended with 50 students dressing in uniforms for the 5 masses. Mrs Draper’s 1st grade class had the most participates with 8 first graders; Well Done and Thank you for participating. The next 3rd Sunday Mass will be on October 20th/21st.

The All Saints Ministry Fair will be handle October 5th/6th. The school ministry has reserved a table for the 5 masses on the week-end. Marta Frey, HSA marketing chair, is coordinating the effort. If you can help after any of the Masses please contact Marta.

From my perspective the first 5 weeks of the school year has gone well. All of our new families and facility seem to have assimilated well. Everyone appears happy. Carpool is not optimized yet but it is getting better. Kindness, patience, and following traffic laws will keep the process moving forward. Joe DeFina

Sep 5: This morning was the kick-off Auction 2007/2008 meeting. There was a poor turn-out for the coffee and donuts. If you want to know what is happening you really need to show-up for these meetings. The Ladies running the auction are doing a great job planning and trying to keep us informed but this is all of our auction and if you want input or to volunteer for the best jobs you need to show up for the meetings. Joe DeFina

Aug 31: Today we had the first Mass of the year at the school. It went wonderfully. I spoke with two moms who are new to the school and both expressed what a nice service and nice job everyone did. The kids were wonderful.

The school administration and nurses have been dealing with the meningitis issue. I know a few families are nervous about what is being done but the administration and nurses are staying on top of the issue and keeping us informed.

I hope everyone received a copy of the Parent Handbook. It contains a lot of good concise information. If you need an e-copy please e-mail Laura Olson and she will get you one.

REMEMBER next Friday is the Hot Dog Social put on by the Eagles Men’s Club. This is free to all families.

Have a fun Labor Day.  Joe DeFina

Aug 30: Can you believe Labor Day week-end is here already. Is summer now over? Do we start planning for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas? I think my family is worrying about all three. JR is playing soccer with the second graders this year about half his team is from All Saints. He is excited to be on this team. ASCS girls have taken over Cassie’s team, 10 of 13 players are now from ASCS on this team both 2nd and 3rd graders. Soccer season kicks off soon. We have already started practice.

Parents need to pay attention to the uniform policy. Boys will now be wearing LONG pants on dress days. Joe DeFina

Aug 27: The SAC had its first meeting of the new school year and it went very well. We discussed our agenda for the year and set about determining what our jobs would be. First, we what to communicate better both internally to our school and externally to our church. We are ONE family with 2 campuses, Meadowcreek and Osage Plaza. Second, we want to re-promote fiscal responsibility. We are working on a FAQ letter to answer many of the general financial questions that arise. Also, we are working on a fund raising policy to implement through out the school.

Three of our members have been assigned as grade contacts. So if you have a specific question about what is going on around All Saints please feel free to contact your grade representative or me.

The school year has start wonderfully and Mrs. Pishko and her staff should be rewarded with kind words for the GREAT start.

Aug 22: Today was a GREAT day, school started. It was great to see so many returning faces, new students, and new families. Mrs. Pishko gave a short but wonderful introduction and it appeared everyone was off and ready to go to class. Thanks to the HSA for providing coffee and doughnuts. Joe DeFina

Aug 21: Everyone should have received a copy of the New Eagle Parent Welcome Orientation document by email. I am excited that we have so many new families at our school this year. I hope all of us, both the existing families and staff, make the new families feel welcome and like family. If anyone has any questions about the school feel free to contact me (e-mail above) or your SAC grade representative. Joe DeFina
